interview date 27th january 2025
tyg: hi ruby! Where did it all begin for you as a model?
Ruby: I never really considered modelling until I was scouted through Instagram when I was 17. Once I left school, I figured id give it a go.
tyg: Who were your early influences?
ruby: My earliest influence has to be my mum. She used to model, and I loved looking through her old pictures and videos—she’s still as glamorous as ever, if not more. Outside of that, I’ve always thought Anok Yai looks incredible in all her work, and I’m a fan of Jack Bridgeland’s photography style.

tyg: How would you define your style? What are your go-to fashion looks?
ruby: I think my style changes depending on my mood, but my go-to outfit will include a fur coat, hoop earrings, and some sort of boots (extra points if they’re cowboy boots).
tyg: Any preferences when shooting? Do you like much direction from the team or certain types of music?
ruby: I actually prefer when the team gives clear direction at the start. It sets the tone and gets us all on the same page, which means we have more time to try new ideas. As for music, any upbeat disco or soul tracks keeps the energy up.
tyg: Tell us a bit about the featured shoot. What was the idea behind it?
ruby: The original goal was to just get into the studio, have fun, and do something different from the usual e-commerce style. The moodboard started with blue as the theme, and we built it up from there, keeping the focus on personality.
tyg: What was the team like to work with?
ruby: This was honestly one of my favourite shoots I’ve done in a while. I’d worked with Josh before, and Emily and Anna are so talented at what they do. The whole day was super fun but relaxed. Definitely would love to work with them all again!
tyg: Any kind of ideas you’d like to shoot that you haven’t done yet?
ruby: I might just be desperate for a holiday, but I’d like to do a location shoot on a beach or in the desert at some point. In other words—get me out of the UK
