Modelling can help open the door to so many opportunities and the chance to travel the world. Lisa Jolley has experienced this in her 10 years as a model and still has the bug to explore more through her career.
Along with her featured photo shoot with photographer Logan Gray, Lisa took time out to talk to TYG about this journey, her own style and the meaning behind her tattoos.

Interview date 17/9/24

TYG: Hi Lisa. How long have you even modelling, and is it something you always wanted to do?

Lisa: I’ve been modelling for 10 years now (crazy) and I kind of stumbled into it really. I originally moved to Manchester to go to university, but shortly after I moved I decided it wasn’t for me. I was working in a bar trying to figure out what my next step was, and I was scouted on Instagram. It was never my long term plan but I got to travel the world and had some pretty incredible experiences, so I’m still here 10 years later!

TYG: Tell us a bit about your content creation. What sort of things do you like to focus on?

Lisa: I tend to focus on anything I’m up to really, I don’t think my content fits into a particular niche. Even though there is lots of fashion and beauty, I also love ‘day in the life’ style videos and fitness content. I think it represents a true reflection of how varied my day to day life is, I have almost no routine and every day looks very different.

“It makes throwing outfits together a lot easier when your whole wardrobe is the same colour palette.”

TYG: We see on your socials you’re very active. How do you like to stay in shape? Do you have any particular workouts you prefer?

Lisa: It actually took me a long time to find any sort of movement I enjoyed. I think I always found open gym spaces very intimidating, especially when you don’t really know what you’re doing. I found going to classes is a great place to start, you meet loads of like minded people. It was only about 2 years into my fitness journey I decided to get my PT qualification. My favourite places to train in Manchester are F45, Blok, Yoga Soul and Barrys. I think the variation keeps you motivated and excited to move!

TYG: How would you define your own style?

Lisa: This is a tough one, but if you’ve ever seen my instagram you can tell I’m not a massive fan of bright colours! I think they look amazing on other people, but I just love wearing black and neutral tones. It makes throwing outfits together a lot easier when your whole wardrobe is the same colour palette. I love quite an androgynous look, most of my clothes are mens sizing and I’m always stealing my boyfriend’s clothes.

“…her direction is on point and I definitely feel my most comfortable shooting with her.”

TYG: Tell us about the featured shoot with Logan. What was she like to work with?

Lisa: Logan is such a babe. We’ve known each other for years, I think we first worked together almost 10 years ago! It helps that Logan has modelled too, so she can relate with you even from behind the camera, her direction is on point and I definitely feel my most comfortable shooting with her.

TYG: Do you have a favourite look from the shoot?

Lisa: The cream Hugo Boss suit from SYLK store is just beautiful. I feel most comfortable in a suit over a dress any day.

TYG: Your tattoos are fantastic! Do they have any special meanings and do you have any favourites?

Lisa: Thankyou! To be honest, there’s only very few that have any meaning. Most of them have been pretty spontaneous, but I love them all and regret none of them (yet). It’s a growing collection, and I’ve actually never felt more like myself since getting them.

TYG: Anything you’d like to try in the near future?

Lisa: I would love to go to Bali very soon, for work or pleasure. I love to travel, and I’m incredibly grateful my job allows me to do that. My goal for next year is to be signed to an agency in Barcelona, so would love to live and work out there very soon!
